Savannah IT firm sold to Hargray Communications
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C, — Beaufort County-based Hargray Communications announced Wednesday it will buy iTech, a Savannah-based managed services company.
“We have been interested for some time in acquiring a managed-services company,” said Hargray chairman and CEO Michael Gottdenker. “iTech is a terrific company with a dedicated workforce led by Alastair Fisher, which we are excited to welcome to Hargray.”
During 2012, Hargray built a fiber network in downtown Savannah, and the firm offers a number of communications products. With the addition of iTech, Hargray said it also will offer “a full suite” of managed services.
“Acquiring iTech will enable us to expand the set of business communications and IT services we bring to our customers not only in Savannah but also in South Carolina,” said Andrew Rein, vice president of sales and marketing for Hargray.
George Powers, who founded iTech, said he’s proud of the business that was built over the last few years under Fisher’s leadership and said it’s time for iTech to join a larger organization that will allow it to accelerate its growth.
“I am grateful to our customers for entrusting to us their IT needs, and I am certain our level of service will only get better through affiliation with Hargray.”
The acquisition is due to close on Jan. 31. Terms were not disclosed.
