Visit Savannah and the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce have hired Jeremy Harvey, who has more than 15 years of convention and visitors bureau) experience, as their new vice president of communications and marketing.
Harvey has served in a similar capacity for the Alexandria, Va., Convention and Visitors Association and Visit Loudoun, the convention and visitors bureau of Loudoun County, Va.
“His 15-plus years of experience in marketing destinations as part of the Washington, D.C., experience will translate nicely to how we promote Savannah domestically and internationally,” said Joseph Marinelli, president of Visit Savannah.
Chamber President and CEO Bill Hubbard said Harvey “brings an extensive background to our organization, including website development, social media marketing and Web-based member acquisition campaigns.”
Harvey and his Visit Loudoun team won a regional Emmy Award in 2009 for a Visit Loudoun Heritage Video Series, and he was in the “Top 100 Most Influential Tourism Professionals on Twitter” list in 2011.
“I truly am excited to be joining the team at Visit Savannah and the Savannah Area Chamber,” Harvey said, “and I have many ideas about how Savannah can increase its economic impact through its continued tourism marketing success.”
Harvey has a master’s degree from George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., and an undergraduate degree from Millersville University in Millersville, Penn. He succeeds Melissa Yao Hille, who operates My Agency, a private marketing firm.
