Queensborough National Bank & Trust Senior Vice President Tillman Sauls graduated from the Georgia Banking School and was a member of a winning Bank Exec Team for the class of 2016. Loan officer Ken Austin also graduated. Compliance Assistant Binta Desai graduated from the compliance school.

 

Rountree inducted into financial hall of fame

Mickey Rountree, of Rountree & Brady Agency, was inducted into the Allstate Financial Hall of Fame at a national awards celebration. Rountree also was named the 2016 Best in Company, one of 10 business owners to receive the award across the country.

 

Bleicken receives Beach Institute Education Award

Armstrong State University President Linda M. Bleicken received the Beach Institute Education Award at the 19th annual King-Tisdell Cottage Foundation Awards Gala. Other 2016 honorees included Savannah State University President Cheryl D. Dozier, civic service volunteer Ronald Elcock, Footprints of Savannah owner Vaughnette Goode-Walker, retired drama professor Robert L. Stevenson, and former mayor Floyd Adams Jr. (posthumously).

Strand Hospitality Services recognized top performing teams and individuals from the past year during a recent company conference. General Manager of the Year went to Michael Cannady from the Candlewood Suites in Savannah. The Flow-Through award also went to the Candlewood Suites.

 

Kelly now Certified Academic Language Practitioner

Chatham Academy teacher Patti Kelly has become a Certified Academic Language Practitioner through the Academic Language Therapy Association, which promotes the educational success for students with dyslexia and related disorders.

 

Cato to receive distinguished service award

Tom L. Cato, head of the Art, Music and Theater Department and Professor of Art - Art Education at Armstrong State University, has been selected by the Georgia Art Education Association to receive the Georgia Art Education Association Distinguished Service within the Profession Award. This award recognizes an outstanding GAEA member for exemplary contributions, service and achievement at the state level. The award will be presented at the annual convention in Gainesville on Oct. 15.
