Developer Epcon Communities has announced plans for a new 31-lot maintenance-free community in Pooler.
Construction on The Courtyards at Savannah Quarters, which will be located off of Pooler Parkway, should begin in early 2017 with the first homes going up in the spring, according to Gary Turnbull, COO of the Courtyards, an Epcon franchisee.
“We still see a viable market. There’s still a steady demand,” Turnbull said of the maintenance-free community concept, which means the homeowners association is responsible for all outdoor maintenance and grounds keeping.
“We have some residents that travel a lot and a few snowbirds, so this means they don’t have to worry about any maintenance when they leave,” he said. “Also living in a gated community gives them another sense of security.”
Like The Fairways, which opened in 2008, the development is geared toward active adults over 55 years of age, but Turnbull said the development isn’t age restrictive.
The community will offer six home model options ranging from just over 1,600 square-feet to 3,200 square-feet. The homes will feature two to three bedrooms, granite counters, gourmet kitchens and optional bonus suites.
Turnbull said the new development has put a lot of emphasis on outdoor living, focusing on patios and landscaping.
“All of the lots will either have lagoon or golf course views. The lots are absolutely fantastic,” he said. “The site views, rear courtyards and patios will all be spectacular.”
