Owners and siblings Amy and John Sussman answered questions for this series.
How long have you been in business?
How many employees do you have?
How would you describe your business?
Globe Shoe Company is a Savannah family owned retailer offering a wide variety of quality shoes and accessories for women and men, said siblings, Amy and John Sussman, owners of Globe.
How has your business changed over the years?
What is special about this more-than-a-century-old business is not what has changed, but the values that have remained the same.
What has been your biggest challenge and how have you overcome it?
Competing with online retailers has certainly been a challenge. But, our brand structure is unique. Exceptional customer service, a broad range of sizes, and on-trend merchandise are the secrets to our success.
What aspect of the business are you most proud of?
We are a third generation family business that has maintained close personal relationships with our customers throughout the years. On a daily basis, customers share stories of shopping at the Globe with their grandparents and parents, stories of “My first pair of Globe shoes.” We are proud to share in those experiences and memories.
Stalwart is defined as “marked by outstanding strength and vigor; loyal, hardworking and reliable.” What is it about your business that makes it a Savannah stalwart?
Globe Shoe Company has been in Savannah for 124 years! We work tirelessly to maintain the integrity of the business, while also staying current with style, social media, and customer service.
What do you hope for the future of your business?
We are looking forward to success for many more years to come. We hope to continue to bring to Savannah unique brands and styles, and of course, fashion forward footwear.
