How will you do business differently this year or decade?
I plan to embrace new technology and integrate it into my business to provide a more seamless experience for my clients. When we started, we used little more than a cellphone. Now smartphones, various apps, and specialized software are integral to our daily operations.
What technological or cultural advances are you looking forward to?
I’m really looking forward to smartphone advances. My iPhone has become my lifeline. I use it for everything from texts and calls to invoicing and scheduling. It has really helped me to expand my business and continue to work while I’m away from my office. I think improvements in mobile technology will greatly improve the efficiency of many businesses, especially mine.
What qualities or assets will distinguish Savannah and preserve or advance our local economy? Savannah is one of a kind. Our charm can’t be duplicated. That being said, I think we will need to continue to increase tourism and awareness of our gem of a city.
What economic drivers and business sectors promise the most growth in the next year or decade? Why?
I think service-based industries will continue to gain popularity in the immediate future. In the long term I am hopeful that we will be able to attract new and exciting companies and manufacturers to Savannah and Chatham County.
What college degrees will be the most in-demand in the area? Why?
Film is obviously a growing industry in Savannah. With more movies and television shows deciding to use Savannah as a shooting location, we will continue to see a rise in those positions.
What advice do you have for other Savannah leaders?
No matter how successful you get continue to take constructive criticism and listen to your customers.
What innovation of yours do you hope will be remembered by future generations?
The utilization of technology in the pet-sitting industry.
