Things move fast at Dress Up.
On Saturday the doors will open to the chain’s newest store at 218 West Broughton St. It’s the 17th location for the company in just eight years. The racks fill quickly, too; the boutique receives 65 new styles each week.
Founded by high school sweethearts Derrick and Danielle Case in Dahlonega, Georgia, the shop offers trendy women’s clothing and accessories and nothing is ever priced over $50.
“You get the boutique look, but not boutique prices,” said Liz Miller, director of public relations for Dress Up.
The downtown store is part of developer Ben Carter’s Broughton Street Collection and is the 14th Georgia location. Miller said Savannah has always been on the list when it came to expanding the brand.
“It’s such an awesome location and everyone is so friendly. … You’re still in Georgia, but it really feels like its own separate world,” Miller said. “It’s so historic and beachy and starting out in Dahlonega, which is also very historic, we love that aspect of it.”
The store will also stock an athleisure line of leggings and sneakers, which is new to the store.
“We’re always updating and keeping on trend,” Miller said.
Savannah shop manager Raquel Hurtarte said that the store plans to hire about 10 employees. She said they are all excited to get know the Savannah Dress Up customers.
“I’m excited to be one with the locals and get to know the area. It feels nothing like home, so that’s what is really exciting to me,” Hurtarte said.
“When ever you come in our store, you’ll get a smiling face,” Miller added. “… We get a lot of loyal customers, which is the best part. It’s fun to actually get to know the customers and that’s what we want for here to become part of the Savannah family.”
