Mertz-Weigel knighted by French consulate general

Armstrong State University Director of International Education Dorothée Mertz-Weigel, also an associate professor of French language and literature, was recently knighted by the French Ministry of Education at Armstrong. Alexandre Durand, cultural attaché to the Consulate General of France in Atlanta, conferred Mertz-Weigel with the Order of Academic Palms of the Chevalier (Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Palmes Academiques), an honor founded in 1808 by Napoleon Bonaparte to award devotion and accomplishment in the areas of teaching, scholarship and research.

Seabolt Brokers names top agent, top sales performers

Ruthie Seese has been named Agent of the Year for Seabolt Brokers LLC. She had sales volume exceeding $17 million in 2016. The company also recognized agents for its annual Chairman’s Circle and President’s Circle, honoring performance and sales results. Chairman’s Circle honors went to Ruthie Seese, Patricia Bishop, Melinda Martin Bailey and Shannan Hunt. President’s Circle included Mark Haslam, Cindy Meyer, Michael Brannin and Ellie Titus.
