Maggie Gill, former president-CEO at Memorial Health, has been named chief executive officer at Novant Heath UVA Health System in Manassas, Va.
The northern Virginia-based network of community and health providers formed last year as a partnership between Novant Health and the University of Virginia Health System. Based in Manassas, it operates three community hospitals ranging in size from 60 to 130 beds in Haymarket, Culpeper and Manassas. It also operates urgent care centers and physician offices throughout northern Virginia.
In addition to various ambulatory clinics in the region, Novant also operates two larger facilities: Prince William Medical Center in Manassas and Haymarket Regional Medical Center just outside Haymarket.
Gill was unavailable for comment Wednesday afternoon.
Gill replaces Melissa Roberson, who was promoted to chief operating officer for the system’s Northern Virginia Market.
Gill served as president/CEO at the parent corporation of Memorial University Medical Center from 2011 until she resigned in February. She remained on board to assist in the transition.
Kerry Watson, president of Watson Healthcare & Management Solutions, succeeded her in April as interim CEO.
Meanwhile, the pending sale of Memorial to Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Hospitals, a for-profit, continues in the due-diligence phase with an anticipated completion of the sale seen in November.
During her tour, Gill oversaw a courtship with Novant Health, a Charlotte, N.C.-based nonprofit in a search for a strategic partner.
That deal fell through in May when Novant officials called a halt to discussions and withdrew.
