Longtime Savannah building materials company Guerry Lumber is expanding its offerings for homeowners, builders and contractors with the acquisition of HomeSouth Architectural, a Savannah window and door company formerly owned by North Atlantic Corporation of Somerset, Mass.

The purchase price was not disclosed.

HomeSouth, located on Bourne Boulevard in Garden City, has been based in Savannah since it was founded 17 years ago by NAC. The company primarily serves professional builders, providing custom millwork and trim, as well as architectural windows and doors.

“HomeSouth Architectural has a strong commitment to their customers and a great team serving them,” said Steve Chick, president of Guerry Lumber, a 90-year-old family-owned business.

“Those factors, combined with their location, make this combination a good fit for Guerry Lumber.”

HomeSouth’s manager Chris Hall and his team team will stay on in their current roles, Chick said, adding that Guerry Lumber is looking forward to continuing both companies’ traditions of quality, integrity and dependability.

The acquisition of HomeSouth means that its products, along with Guerry Lumber’s inventory, will allow customers to source everything they need — from sitework and masonry supplies to custom milled doors and hardware — from one company, Chick said

“This single-source solution for building materials will create efficiencies that will benefit all our customers,” he said.

Founded in 1927 by T.H. Guerry Sr., Guerry Lumber is located on a six-acre site at the corner of 44th and Barnard streets. The company serves commercial builders, home builders, professional remodelers and homeowners with a wide selection of lumber, plywood, moulding, windows and doors, as well as custom millwork.

The company currently operates under the guidance of Chick; Lynda Beam, owner and third generation of the founding family; and Lindy Wheat, who — as Beam’s daughter and Guerry’s great-granddaughter — represents the fourth generation of the company.

HomeSouth serves primarily professional builders, providing custom millwork and trim as well as architectural windows and doors.
