'Brainiacs' want to turn your house into a billboard
OK, we get a lot of news releases from a lot of businesses and others who'd like a little attention, but one that arrived today from an outfit called Brainiacs from Mars was a little different.
The Brainiacs are headquartered in California and they're doing what they call "something a bit out there ... we're turning homes into billboards."
And they're interested in painting a few homes in Savannah.
The deal is this: They pay you a fee to paint the front or side of your house as a billboard. They make their money by charging the advertiser for the billboard.
They've been doing this elsewhere for a while and say they've been contacted by 41,124 homeowners as well as 37 schools, 24 churches and 85 restaurants.
They say they plan to paint 3,000 homes and are funding the project via revenue from the billboard home ads and $925,000 raised through Indiegogo.com, a crowd funding site.
If you're curious, you can see pictures and get more information at http://www.brainiacsfrommars.com/paintmyhouse.html .

Sounds crazy, but ...
Sounds crazy, and it may violate any number of local ordinances, but there's a historical precedent: Rock City barns.
Now, if we could just bring back the Burma Shave signs, too.
