Panama Canal director: New locks to open early 2016

The head of the Panama Canal says the waterway’s much-anticipated new locks will be open by early 2016, Reuters has reported.
“In January, 2016, the widened canal will be working,” Panama Canal Administrator Jorge Quijano told reporters, assuaging fears that a recent labor strike had pushed the project back again. The work stoppage, which began in late April when Panama’s largest construction union walked off the job, lasted more than two weeks.

New Gulfstream G280 certified for China, Canada



Savannah-based Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. announced last week that the Gulfstream G280, its new super mid-size business jet, has earned certification from the civil aviation authorities in both China and Canada.


The certificate validations officially recognize that the G280 is compliant with airworthiness and environmental requirements in each country. Securing a validation is one of the last steps required for an aircraft to be registered in a particular country.
